To start off, this page is a list of programs which I have used and how I rate them. The purpose for this page is so that people who are looking for a certain program to do a certain task will know which ones are the most best and the most popular programs to download instead of downloading a whole lot of junk and wasting thier time, Now on with the show.

ICQ vs. POWWOW

***DoNT MiND Me, I LiKe To WaTCH***
ICQ
The most best way to keep in touch with someone on the net. What makes ICQ one of the best chat programs I've come across is that it is user friendly, fast and is the most used chat program out there. It has alot of settings to click on and off all day, you can play games and heaps of other stuff. The only thing that this program lacks in is the chatroom because you can only have 6 people at once in window chat mode, I dont know if thats the same in IRC mode but a drawback non-the-less but is sometimes has the tendancy to kill users in the chatroom for some reason. The other problem is the human element which comes in the form of SPAM and Chain messages, Besides that there in nothing else to complain about for now.

POWWOW
I started using this chat program long before I started using ICQ. It can have 7 people in window chat mode and can have an infinite number of people in communities mode. It also has a whole bunch of neat stuff in chat mode, you can play sounds, draw on the whiteboard, play the built in board games and so on, it's alot more reliable than ICQ in chat mode and is alot more fun. When it comes to leaving messages, this program fails to deliver being because it is way to slow and not worth the trouble sending a message via powwow. So if you want a program where you will be doing alot of chatting then POWWOW is the better choice from the two but when it comes to messages then ICQ is the way to go. I personally use a healthy mix of both.

NeTSCaPe vs. eXPLoReR

***aahhhh, SuCH WoNDeRFuL SCeNery***
NeTSCaPe
It's Gotta be the best Browser out there in my opinion, you have so many preferances to fiddle around with like disabling the autoload graphics so you dont have to waste time loading net pages which gives you alot more time to find what your looking for (also handy if you ISP only allows you to download a certain amount of MB a month before they start charging extra). And it's so easy to use. I dont know why people who use IE say it's no good when it clearly the better browers. I cant think of anything negative to say about it because I've never had a problem with it.

Now what can I say about this which is positive???....how about "it works!". Maybe I'm being to cruel with my opinion. Anyway it doesn't have as much prefrences as netscape does but it does get things done. Problems which I had with this browser is that it took ages for a page to load because of graphics (it caches all graphic or half of them before loading the page) and that it crashes when lots of windows open up, which is really annoying. The only reason to get this browser is if you are downloading alot of small files and netscape is downloading into 1 directory and IE is downloading into another which saves time.

WiNaMP vs. KJoFoL

***i CaN FeeL THe PoWeR***
WiNaMP
It's one of the best mp3 players out there and is always getting better with no end in site. It's easy to use, small and simple, there are a heap of plug-ins you can get and also another little feature is that you can change the look of the interface with skins (like the jackets on the nokia mobiles). It's also damn fast and it's no CPU hog. A mp3 essential!!!!.
***KJof...WHa????***
KJoFoL
This is another great mp3 player, it plays more different sound formats than winamp and it uses less CPU than winamp. The interface is cool and also has a skin option but not alot at the moment, same with the plugins. All the prefrences haven't been finished yet but it's a great player. I dont use this one alot because I am a winamp fan. But I will start using this one more when it's complete.

ViVo vs. ReaLPLaYeR

***ViVo LaS VeGaS***
ViVo
It's a spiffy little player and I dont know why more people use this format on the net!. Downloading a clear video clip with good sound (in other words not muted, crackly or played down) is kinda like downloading a mp3 file, in other words around 1mb a minute in this format. The problems with this player are that you cannot fast forward or reverse to a part of the clip you want to see and there is no fullscreen mode. Maybe newer versions have fixed these problems, it's been awhile since I downloaded this player, I have version 2.1. Oh and like realplayer, you cant save video clips unless you have the registered version.
***u SaY u iS a ReaL PLaya, PRoVe iT***
ReaLPLaYeR G2
Realplayer is probably the most used video and live feed format used on the net and is not only used for video but for audio as well. It's not hard to find video and audio for it and is easy to use. No complaints when it comes to this player but again you have to register if you want to download audio or video (if it's audio and you have a fast connection just connect your tape deck to your PC and just copy it to tape). A must if you wanna download TV shows like SouthPark.
